Sounds like alot of keeping up with the Jones. A extra gallon of gas and anti lock brakes just would not do it for me. I could see trading a dyna or soft tail to get a touring bike, But to go from a ultra to a ultra or an ultra to a road glide come on. You guys are harleys wet dreams. I dont care even if you paid cash you have got to be taking a hit trading every year. If not let me know your secret.
Love my o7custom road king.. Only think idisliked was that it runs toodam hot once it warms up,becausethe fuel mixtureis leaned out at operating temp. from factory settings....The o8 run hot as well, not good for air cooled engine.. It's thefactory pollutionnarrow bando2 senors that cause the heat problem.. ( thanks to our federal pollution law sh#t)..But Ifixed that problem.. new aftermarket EFI controler box with wide band o2 senors..and updated toIDS,All thisis hell of a lots cheaper than buyng new bike and taking bath with old one.... NowI sure as hell don't want fly by wire throttle control like the 08 have.. as forABS brakes whichcost extra.just another thing to go wrong.. my years of experience is this, you can ride fast, just learn to power stop. most people have no glue how to brake hard. (vey hard). "don't think your safe"because you have ABS..Anyhoo less electronics better off I'am.. Keeps the stealer out of my pockets....again only my opinion for that it's worth..
Who cares if someone is taking a hit for a few K to get what they want. Money aint everything.....my own personal happiness is way more valuable then a few grand. I have 2 bikes now....and I got a feeling by mid Summer I will have a third. I have about three or four things I like to spend my money on.....Harley's, Rolex watches, firearms....and females(well I also like to live in the luxo lap at home with quality furnishings and big *** LCD's and cable.....oh yea....I also spend any extra cash on the Snap-On truck). Hell if I cant have what I want, or spend whatever amount it takes to make me happy, I may as well just become a friggin bum, grubbing change on the corner in front of the Port Authority Bus Terminal, and sleeping on the subway.
I sold my 07 Ultra to a good friend after I had fixed most of what was wrong with it (hot, pinging, gutless, noisy). I was never going to love it and the dealer and the MOCO were to blame for that. I was not going to buy another new HD. Then came IDS and ABS and 6 gal tanks and cat mufflers. I took an 08 RG for a long test ride. It was quiet and quick. I liked everything about itexcept the wind protection but I knew taller screens were available. The taller screen was horrible, reflections and buffeting. I traded the RG for what is now my 3rd Ultraand I am one happy spoiled rotten pig. The 07 was supposed to be my last HD and the 08 will have to be cuz I'm broke.
