Default Cams going in

Guess I'll throw the cams in over the next week. The HD shop shuts down for the week so I borrowed all the tools. Guess I'll have to take pics for this one too

Great, keep us updated on the results. We can compare against my HQ500, FatCat and Thundermax setup...

Will the 575's work with the stock heads? Or are you having the heads done at the sametime?

.575 lift won't work with stock heads..........that's why I'm asking.

Are you doing 103" now too, or waiting?

Not doing the 103 right off. If you go to zippers website, the new redshift 575 cam is a bolt-in cam for 96 or 110 engines. I spoke to them on the phone and they advised that no headwork is necessary. They also advised that if I go to 103 that I should then get the 577 cam, but if I go 110 I can still use the 575.

Category: CAMSHAFTS & VALVE TRAIN
NEW! 2007-up ThunderMax Cams by Red Shift

ThunderMax cams by Red Shift are ground from 1-piece 8620 steel billets. Red Shift cams provide smooth, linear power with great valve train dynamics. The stroked crankshaft in the 2007 models changes the dynamic from '06 and earlier model TC88 engines, making correct cam choice crucial to avoid engine damaging detonation with today’s fuel quality. Several models are available to best match stock or other installed engine components. All require adjustable pushrods; chain drive only. Head work required unless otherwise noted as a bolt-in cam.

575-HS: 96" and 110” Engines - Bolt-In
Zipper’s Part Number 413-926S

[ul][*]Designed fore use with stock, unmodified heads[*]Great bolt-in upgrade for stock 96 or 110” engines[*]Works well in 103" conversions with dished pistons[*]Increases torque and horsepower across the board [/ul]

Good Luck with that.................I wouldn't do it.

.575 lift with stock valve springs is a lot................even though Doug at HQ told me I could use the 0039's with stock heads he also didn't really recommend it.

Under .550 lift is pretty much all that is generally recommended with stock springs..........to do .575 is really pushing the limits and reliability.

I was kinda wondering about that too.... It seems a bit on the agressive side for the stock springs.

I'll be interested to hear what ya think.

It seems peculiar that a cam is OK with 96 & 110", but not 103.....

As for the 110, forget it. If you really wanna go bigger, just do the 113. I've heard nothing but bad about the 110's.

That plus the TQ curve, which peaks high (3700) and is weak down low where you need it on a touring bike.
