I just put on a lightly smoked 6" windshield on my RG and really wished I had a darker one. I'd gotten this a while back from a forum member in trade for my stocker so there's no taking it back. I am thinking maybe I can get it tinted as my truck windows are done that way. Anyone ever try it ?
That's why I was considering tinting. Moco gets $140 for a windshield. I paid $100 to have my whole truck done with the best tint on the market lol. Tinting a 6" x 36" windshield should be fairly cheap if it works.
I also think your best bet would be to forget the "get it tinted" idea, and just figure out what % tint you want and the size of the shield, then contact a place like Clear-View for a quality made shield at a fair price. I just got their 8.5" re-curve w/dark tint, and I love the way it works and the way it looks on my FLHX.
Tint it and give it a try. It cant cost much to tint a shield that small. If it dosen't work Memphis shades makes nice shields. I have 2 one short and one tall and they are much better than the original H-D shield.
Normal window films will not work on Lexan. It will bubble once in the sun and heat and you will not be able to remove it without scratching the Lexan rendering it useless.
I suggest you find another option.

I got a dark smoked6" shield from Baggers-Only on EBAY for around $40 - it looks great on the bike. I would just go that route. He has them in 6", 8", 10", in light smoke, dark smoke, black, and black chrome.
P.S. - I absolutely love how the 6" shield looks on my roadglide, but I get an awful lot of wind noise and have to wear earplugs. I plan on ordering a Clearview sport shield with a recurve to see if that lets me ride without earplugs and hear my stereo, while still looking 'sporty'.
