It's a cheap solution to your problem. Then you can tint it as dark as you want with multiply coats.

i've seen that done before (not on a plastic windshield) and thought that it looked pretty ghetto to me. you can not get even coverage so when it dries, some spots are darker than others.
i'd go the 40 dollar route, less headache (and heartache)
