serial plug for SERT...??
Try different comm ports to see if the connection works, my Thundermax did the same thing and finally I got a connection on comm port 6, who would have figured that.
Kinda makes you wonder why in the world Harley doesn't tweak the design of the SERT to use a USB interface. I mean, c'mon, RS-232 ports have been deprecated for years now!
If you have a standard PCMCIA slot, get a Serial PC Card. They cost around $40. Make sure it's a standard slot though, the newer Dell laptops don't have a standard slot. Load the drivers. When you need to use the serial port, plug in the card and it's recognized as the next serial port available (usually starting at COM4).
In the AV business most of the equipment we need to communicate with only uses serial control and won't recognize most of the USB to Serial adapters. If they do, they're specific about the adapters.
