Hi,
I know it sounds pretty scary but if you think about it you are just going to splice a couple of extra inches of wire between the throttle (which is just a rheostat) and the connector on the end.You just want to be sure to use the same gauge wire, only use the additional length you actually need, make good strong (hot) solder connections (avoid a "cold solder joint), and cover the area well with shrink tubing. If you follow those rules you should not have much of a change in the total resistance (ohms) in each of the wires.Even if it does change a little the only effect should be (if harley engineered this system correctly) at the very beginning of throttle movement. Meaning is may have to move a slight bit more then before the modification before the ECM gets the signal. This must be adjustable anyway given all the different lengths of handlebars they use on the different model bikes.

I know the guys at Chesters HD in Mesa Az. have done a couple of installations already. I heard they working out fine. You might give their service department a call at 480-894-0404.
Good Luck!

Good Luck with your Road King high bar modification. I'm anxious to hear how it works out for you and to find out if the brake line is long enough. I also want to put the high bars on my 2008 FLHR.

Some pictures of the process would be great if you can get them

Keep us posted.

AHHHHHHHHHhh What a releaf... THEY ARE SO COMFORTABLE!!!!!!!!!!

What a pain in the ***...

2 things I noticed that went wrong with the install...

#1 thegreen connection for the fly-by-wire does not fit threw the bar (just after the elbow on the under side of the bar you will see there's an indent... the connector won't pass by that...) It needs to be cut off and hard wired to the other end... not a problem if you can sodder...

#2 on the inside of the bar there is a "seam" you need to get in there with some sand paper and sand down the seam all the way so that the whole sensor will fit in the bar...

Other then those 2 problems everything was a sinch!!! ALL STOCK CABLES FIT and they still form to the bar (yes... INCLUDING THE BRAKE CABLE!!!)

The notches were easy to do with a dremmel and cutting wheel... The ovel on the underside I did with a grinding wheel... worked for me...

I will get pictures of the bars on the bike for you guys another time... Right now my camera is dead...

Sorry I don't have pictures of the process... but really... there was nothing to take pictures of...

GOOD LUCK and let me know if i can be of any assistance!!!

RON

Ron.....Thanks for the information I had the high bars on my 2002 RK and loved them. Now that you've shown me they'll work on the 08, I'll be picking up a set soon
Thanks again for the heads up on the green connector

Thanks FIV_OH, glad to hear it worked out and I will be doing the same install in the next week or so. From what I've seen they look to be just like the stock bars only taller...??? Do they have anymore pull back?

I wonder, since I haven't done the change yet, if this is the piece that would make it work without the cut & solder? DAWG?

You shouldn't be and shouldn't have to cut and solder anything in the handlebar connections. The stock 32305-08 connector is for external wired bars and the 32310-08 is the one used for internal wired bars and has the thinner connector. I would strongly caution against cutting and splicing any of these connections when there are better alternatives.
