Installed a headlight modulator last night. (thanks cigarman) Went out for a 3 hour putt today. Amazing.
The cagers definitely knew I was there. I think some were a bit irritated when I was directly behind them. Oh well.
In a typical afternoon ride I cannot count how many cagers I see waiting at driveways and roads to turn out in the the road I am on, that are not aware of me coming down the road, or only nominally aware. Today EVERYONE was very aware that I was there.
I had one on my C50 Suzuki Boulivard for a year or so. They do work very nicely. It was plug and play so to speak.
I had people stop and look at me and let me pass before pulling out. I've had guys who ride and are in thier truck stop at a light jump out to tell me that my head light has a short. One guy pulled over because he thought I was a cop or something!! Everyone was friendly about it. I had the Kisantech unit. Was about $100.00. I had to drill a small hole in the top of the headlight bucket for the solar sensor.
I want to put one on the Electra Glide but I was wondering where to mount the sensor. I don't want to be drilling the Bat wing.
I also had the tail light modulator and that flashes 5 or 6 times before staying on. Kind of like pumping the brakes. I hit the brake one time and had a lady pass me on the right and stop next to me because it surprised her. I'll be adding on of those also.
I had one on my old bike. It works well, and does get you noticed. Wait till you see how many dumb cagers tell you your bike headlight is broke and it's flashing....duh!!
The one I have has about 2 feet of wire for the light sensor. I did not drill any holes, just ran it along the wires up the left handlebar. Cannot even see it sitting there unless you know what you are looking for.
I thought about getting one for my brake light, but I already have a 50 LED brakelight on the back of my tourpak that will light up a city!
Yep. Best safety device going, IMO. I have had one on my bikes for over a year and not ONE cager tried to pull out in front of me or turn left into my path.
