Help,
I purchased a '04 Road Glide that has the Ultra Detachable tour pack. It has the speakers and amplifier for the tour pack. Here is my problem, if the CD player is on then I get audio out of both sets of speakers. When I turn the radio (or CD) off the rear speakers have a noticeable static. The front speakers go off as they should but the only way I can get the static to go away is to turn down the volume on the rear speakers from the volume control on the tour pack. It was so annoying I removed the tour pack.
Does anyone have any ideas.
RE: White noise or static on Ultra tour pac speakers
Several things here to look at. Since the rears are amplified they may be picking up the noise from the power wire to the amp. You may try a different source for clean power. Next there could be an issue with the type of wire being used. Most insulated wire is made up ofheavier strands to make up the total wire. If you look at speaker wire the wires are finer and there are many more of them to make the same gauge of wire. This is a needed feature as the signal travels around the outside strands thus more strands equal better signal. One last thing to tryis a ground loop isolator, one of these can be picked up at about any place that sells stereo equipment.
Oh, I forgot to mention that if there is again adjustment on the amp you may need to turn it down some. Having that too high will make noise which you will not be able to get rid of. I have seen people want to turn it all the way up to get the most output...that does not always work.
