Here is a link to lightweight DOT approved carbon fiber helmets. Maybe this will fit your needs...

I dont care to wear a helmet, but when I do (travel to states that require it), this is the best. Its light weight and much smaller (bulk) that any others. You dont feel like your head is a bowling ball! I have over 10,000 miles using this helmet across country and its great.

I bought one of the advanced carbon concepts helmets from www.carbofiberhelmets.com and ended up returing it. A very nice helmet but gave me shroom head. I shouldn't be so vain but the way that looked I would rather just wear a full face. Customer service was great however at ACC and they refunded my money when I sent it back right away.

I have the Daytona half lid. Like the fit & style, although it's about one step up from a do-rag for protection.First thing I did was get rid of the vizor which tended to blow the helmet back on my head at higher speeds. I do not like the strap cuz it will flap in the wind and b*tch slap your face like crazy. Tucking it under the tightened strap pinches my neck. It does fit in the saddlebag pretty easily - an accomplishment in that Dyna bags don't have a whole lot of room to start with. Also rides real well on the sissy bar or T-bag. I also wear ear plugs most of the time, even in town.
