I want to paint my birch white 2006 police RK. Is there any way to find out what the colors for the RK were for 2006? Do you have to have the workdone by Harley to get the official Harley colors? Also, does anyone know how much paint it takes to paint a Road King?
AZ: You can order paint from HD in quart quantities. The basic PN is 98609 followed by a two or three letter suffix. For example, Deep Cobalt Pearl is 98606BXT. To find the suffix, you can go to the P&A catalog or the HD website and look for your color in a Tour Pak or Fairing Lowers; they'll have a different part number, but will have the same letter designated paint code.
For pricing, try Zanotti's/Chicago HD/etc. And, depending on the color, it may require a base coat; if it's a denim it will require Denim Clear PN 98609CLR; and virtually all of the HD paint will require Urethane Activator PN 99825-02.
Alternatively, PPG duplicates most, if not all, HD paint colors and a good PPG auto paint shop will have the capability to mix the paint to the formula PPG uses. Here are the PPG codes for '06 taken from another website and not personally verified:

If you are going to paint your bike why not just get a custom paint job? If you use the standard Harley colors your bike will look like hundreds of other Road King's out there. Food for thought anyhow.
