I believe the indy shop here in Lansing does it for around 4500.00 for the fat tire kit installed.I was looking into it but decided not to as you really don't see much of the back tire and I wanted to spend my money on other parts. Maybe later when everything else is done. (Is it ever??)
They told me the touring bikes have a different rake on the front end than the other models. You will more than likely have to cut and reweld the frame to get what you want andthan getextended forks to get the trail back to something close to normal. Again I was told this and I havn't really researched it to much because I have other parts I'm working on right now.
Sounds about right what MCSarge said. The cheapest fat tire kit is in the $3000 range that I've seen. Obviously if you can do the work yourself you'd save alot of money on this item, but I certainly wouldn't have the know-how or tools for that type of project (not to mention the time for it!)
Mine is getting done this Saturday on my 2008 Road Glide. Bad Dad's and Native Cycles will be doing the work. They'l also be installing new 2" lowered forks and an air ride suspension. I'll get some pics and costs for you by Saturday PM.
I installed a 200 tire kit last year on a buds E-Glide and while it looks good he said he'd never do it again. If I had to say he had a complaint it would be how fast the 200 wears down in comparison to say a 150. Next was the fact you see very little of it and even fewer notice it (Poser thing there). After he saw my fender cover he had stated that would be the route he went next time. Another bud sitting in on these conversations opted for the fender cover also. He went as far as to say had he done the fender cover first he wouldn't have done a rear wheel and associated parts as they are all hidden, especially with the stretched bags.
www.hogpro.com has a kitwhere you can put a 180 on. It's like 1600 bucks with no tire or rim. Nottoobad. I wanted this pretty bad.
I can't bring myself to do it though. Better stuff to spend my money on at the moment....
pm is making a phat tour kit that runs less than a grand. It switches you to a chain drive and it says you have to use a PM wheel. It's a 180 kit though. It was kinda hard to find someone with it. I can't remember where I saw it. I think you have to get a sproket.
