Default Switching to a Modular...what has been your experience?

Rode with fullface helmets for a couple of decades.

Switched to a novelty and then to a DOT half helmet when I got my first HD.

Have decided to go back to a fullface/modular.

I have read reviews and posts til I can't read anymore. [:'(]

The wife and I will be going and trying a bunch on for fit/comfort in the next few days.

Before we do, I would REALLY appreciate input from those that have been using modulars, or know of any modulars that have hit the asphalt and how they performed.

Comfort, noise, price, ease of use, etc.

Thanks!

Bought a Nolan N102 recently. Very nice fit, fairly low noise, love the wind seal and sun visor. It is an expensive helmet compared to some but worth it I think. Highly rated if you take the time to check. Try one on at a shop and then buy it at an Ebay store to save some $.

Living in CA a helmet is required.. Have been riding with shorties for many year... Wife & I just changed over to a Modular and so far we like it... Installed Blueant Interphones in both so now we have not only Bluetooth for the phone and other Aux equipt but as intercome that seems to work well...

Another vote for the Nolan 102. The newer stye also has a flip down sun shield. I've really got comfortable wearing it. Too hell with what it looks like!

Ihave the HD Stealth and am pleased with it. However, I preferedthe Nolan 102 (which I got for my wife), but I did not buy it because it did not fit the shape of my head.

I have a Nolan N100E. I love the thing. Yeah, it's a little noisier than some others, but I wear ear plugs (or sometimes my Etymolic ER6is) so that doesn't bother me so much. The convenience rocks. The price is good. The Nolan is wicked comfy.

I didn't like the HJC in comparison.
I loved the Multitec, but it's almost 2x the price of the Nolan

I have the HD System modular helmet which is a rebadged HJC Sy-Max. I like it for cold weather riding, but that's really the only time I wear it. I've never really been a fan of full face helmets. I have excellent peripheral vision and I can't stand being limited in that aspect. The only reason I bought this helmet was that I needed something for winter riding in Virginia that would allow me to show myface and ID at work. Masks were too much of a pain.

As for noise and comfort, I liked the comfort level of the helmet, but the road noise is higher than I expected for a full face helmet and I was only wearing it for roughly an hour and a half at a time. If you're going to wear one all the time, you should probably look elsewhere.

I just bought a Fulmer modular for winter time use and so far, so good. It's a little bit noisier than I expected, but it's the only brand that fit my old noggin. I wouldn't even consider a full face without the flip up option. It's handy as a pocket on your shirt.
