I have my bike insured for $40000. If it gets stole or wrecked or whatever, thats what I get minus my deductible. Check with your insurance agent. Most have some sort of policy like this. My policy is only about 700 year. I LIKE IT.
If you cherish your bike and you have invested the bucks, get lojack. As for recovery, I have never seen one recovered that was hacked. They are recovered pretty fast. As soon as you report it to the Police, it is entered into NCIC (National Computer) and then lojack starts the signal. Im a Sheriff Sergeant in the Seattle area and we recover them quite fast. Our Helo is even equipped with the tracking box. Obviously I cant speak for other agencies or other parts of the world. Sometimes a pursuit is the result and the bike/car gets totalled anyway. So if you have personalized your bike or car to the point where it has become a part of you, get lojack.
That is the wayI understand the system. Lojack links the VIN to the Lojack system so as soon as it is reported stolen it becomes activated and detectable by any Lojack detector. As for where they hide it on the bike... Lojack is not to be advertised. If they do not know it is on the bike they will not dig for it.
I have heard of a story where a company hid the Lojack transmitter in the engines of their vehicles. Someone stole a truck and stripped the engine out of it. The Police were able to track the signal to the guys garage and the engine. Now that is cool!
If spending the $$$ for the lojack will help you sleep better at night then get it.

Go pull somebody else's leg. $40,000 for an '05 Road King? Only about $700 a year? I pay $370 on a '06 Ultra with extra coverage for up to $5,000 chrome and asseccories. Better read YOUR policy.
