Thanks again guys. I didn't put an update on mypost that I dida little while ago, but I ended up going with the PCI/Rush/K&N combo. I am very happy with it, but will keep this info in mind for down the road when i can eventualy do the 103" or bigger build I would like to.

Thanks again.

I have had my Tmax for about 9 months with winter lets say about 5 months of riding time.
Was running stock cams with V&H BSS and SE A/C went from SERT to Tmax for the A-TUne item.
Dyno time here costs $75 hr and it takes a few hours at least to dyno an engine in - no freebee time.
Bonus- New cams, D&D Fatcats, etc, and no need to dyno the bike , and I got my Tmax through Cateye customs / shooter64.
Was about $ 700.00 or so. My Indy wrench likes the Tmax and has brochures for them in his shop. Aside from a slight exhuast connection leak which will clear up this week when Indy checks it out, no issues and enjoying the ride!~

Cheers,

Mark

i have a 2007 street glide

ness big sucker
thundermax/auto tune
2-1 fatcat quiet baffles
IDS
in the beginning the bike ran great but the mileage drop way down(like 28 mpg city and 29-30 hwy).the reason, i was listening to every so called thundermax expert on the net.my set up calls for map 391.i was reading all this testimonies about how it needed to be rich to avoid pinging which it was one of my main issues after installation.
Another issue was the decel poping and jacking the session % setting so it could hurry up and learn. After numerous mapping loading,i had enought.i called zippers and talk to randy about the issues i was having.First we uploaded a virgin 391 map and cleared all learn points and IAC as well.next i called Head Quaters and talk to one of the guys that knows tmat pretty good.He gave me some referance points for the cruise range settings. After that i lean the trottle pos to 14.0 afr from trottle pos0to aprox half trottle between 2000 rpm to 2300 rpm wich is aprox the rpms i ride around town.from 2500 to 3300 i lean it to 14.1 between trottle pos 8 to 20.i took 5 degrees from the rear cylinder timming and drop two degrees from timming vs engine speed rpm range 2500 all the way to max rpm.s.yesterday was 103 deg here in northern california.i whent for an all day run.got 165 miles with 4.1 gallon's. that's 40.2 mpg.going uphills on the mother load at 80to 85 mph without a single ping.the bike run's reall strong and yes is a little hot but is due to the hot temps here.during winter it will be nice and cool and the little heat will be welcome to keep my hand's warm during long run's.i hope this help's.the thundermax is a real jewel just leave it alone and learn the unit.it is very user friendly.aboout the % learn per sessions i set it up to 2% and 3%.this took care of my decel pop.some guys says to jack it up but believe me ,don't.enter 50% and see what happens your bike will run like is falling apart.i know becouse i did the same.

I hope this help's and i am not giving this settings so you could do it also.I am only relating what i did.if you whant to try please be sure to save your map before tinkering with it.

Iceman,

I had a lot of trouble with the 390-series maps causing decel pops/backfires. I am now using a 400-series map (403 for my bike) and loving it, I don't even have to turn the decel feature on and I get no pops. Others have had decel pop issues as well with the 390-series. Take a look at this thread:

koppster;
I have a bagger and i think your ride is a dyna. Am i correct? After the changes i made with the timming and such the map looks almost like 401 timming wise.I almost loaded 401 or 403 i do not remenber well however pete at zippers told me to load as close to set up as possible for ease of learning.Right now the bike is performing flawlessly and the mileage is getting a lot better.Any time we change from stock the miles will suffer a little until we find that sweet spot.
It is sunday in sunny cali and i have to work (suck's).Have a safe ride my brother and remenber
IF IT HAS **** OR WHEELS , SOONER OR LATER IT WILL GIVE PROBLEMS

Iceman,

Yup, I'm on a Dyna and 403 was built using a dyna run. In fact, part of the problem I was having with the 390-series might have been that 393 (the map Zippers told me to use) was for an FLH with Rinehart True Duals. They reccomended that map to me and several others. Maybe its a safe map but it didn't work well for my machine and others had similar problems.

I saw your issue with pops on decel and thought you might want to know the 400-series cured all my pops.

I'm working today too but I just got off. High 80s with clear skies and cool breeze in San Antonio today, hmmm, what should I do?

Thanks,
Rick

Just switched to the Super SERT, was wasting too much time messing with the TMAT, bike ran great but MPG was in the 28 - 30 range and I was not happy with that. Did the change two weeks ago but have been travelling for work so no good MPG numbers but it does run real strong with no pinging even when I lug it and go WOT. Will be selling my TMAT soon, I just dont have the skills some others do.

This issue won't keep me from buying a Thundermax w/Autotune when they become available for the '08 models, but I do have one criticism and this is something that REALLY irks me. For as long as the Thundermax tuner has been out and for the price they're getting for it and their autotune module, it's a slap in the face to their customers that they're still using a frigging serial port connection and haven't yet upgraded to USB. Not only does this require the use of a serial to USB adapter for most of us (which may or may not work), but data transfer via a serial port cable is at a snail's pace compared to USB. Zipper's owes it to their customers to finally make this long overdue upgrade especially considering the fact that many lower-priced tuners have had USB ports/cables for years.

So in order to get the TMax to work properly you have to retard the timing to the point that the bike runs like a dog????????? That's great. I think I'll settle for a qualified dynotune and a SERT thank you. If I wanted to ride a pig, I'd get one.
