Remember you still need to reinitalize the unit on the bike. And make sure the Close loop is checked.
And everytime the battery or 40 amp fuse is disconnected and power is lost to the TM.
Initalization lets the TM sink with the TPS and everything. This will help yer unit last longer too.

This could come in useful to study before installing a TM so you can understand it. When the unit comes in yer not going to be able to install it and sit down and understand this as well. You are gonna want to crank the bike and go.

Rahall,

I have a TMax heading my way from EP. I hope to install it this weekend. I've been reading the manual and I get a little confused about setting the bike up for autotune. If I'm reading correctly:

1. Install the hardware
2. Install the software
3. Pick a base map, load it, and then link with the bike to load in to the ECM

My question is about selecting autotune, is that just a matter of checking the boxes for "closed loop" operation?

I want to install the TMax, load the base map and ride.

Thanks,
Rick

Rahall,

After you load the base map you need to initalize the TM by 3 30 second on and off cycles so the TPS sensor can locate itself. I'd make sure the closed loop mode is checked and open the monitor and check the AFR.s to make sure they are doing o.k. so you know the AT mode is functing.
1. Install the hardware
2. Install the software
3. Pick a base map, load it, and then link with the bike to load in to the ECM

My question is about selecting autotune, is that just a matter of checking the boxes for "closed loop" operation?

Cardboard is correct.

Other than what you said, just go through the initialization and your done.

The instructions are pretty clear.

If you need any help, PM me.

Good luck.

I got the Tmax becauseit will pay for itself if I can eliminate 2 dyno runs, that and all the great feedback from forum members. My experience mirrors the other riders comments. Easy install, fired right up and settled into a nice idle. It has been getting better all the time. Something as important as this, don't let the dollars make your decision for you. Luck

OK. I think I am fairly done reading all the pages of posts on the different tuners/fuel management systems and I think I have now made up my mind. I am going to go with the TMax EFI/Auto Tune, a Fatcat 2-1 pipe, and a Ness Big sucker (stage 1 or 2? I want to run it open).

I feel that this setup, although expensive, will be the best power package, and will be the best "up-front" purchase to handle later internal mods (up to a point). I am thinking I will like to do the HC103 build in a year or two, and I do not want to have to re-buy all my Stage I parts.

Here is what I am looking for...Does anyone have a stock '07 96ci TC that has done the Tmax/Fatcat/Ness BS (or SEAC/K&N)combination that can share their Dyno sheet with me?

I have gone through the Dyno sheet post till my eyes are bloodshoot, but can't seem to find that specific combo. I knowa dyno sheet isnot the end all answer, but I would like to get a good idea of what I am buying before I pluck down the $1500. I'm also gonna go through the Video thread and see if I can find any Fatcats on there to hear the "sound".

When I do this, I will post a review, pics, video, everything I can.

Thank youall!

MVinc01,

Call Pete at Zippers and ask him. The thing with TMax is the base map is just a starting point if you use the closed loop option. The bike will learn from the 02 sensors regardless of your set up. Zippers will know what base map to advise you to start with and you'll enjoy the chat.

On the stage 1 or 2 Big Sucker question, I was advised by more than one that stage 1 is all I needed for pipes and air cleaner upgrades. In fact, more than one advised that the stage 1 Big Sucker was all I'd ever need.
