Hey FXDJOE, did you post this same question over on the soft tail section? It'd be interesting to see the different answers over there.

For essentially the same amount of dollars I felt like I got the touring ride, better bags, meaner look, cruise control and more whistles & bells on my Road King Classic than if I had gone with the Heritage Classic... Even though I had thought forever I would go with the Heritage, it fell off the list as a bagger for me... Once on a Road King I was hooked... It came down to the 3 flavors of Road King for me...

I'm also sure you'd get different answers in the Softail forum! LOL!

I rode both several times before I made my purchase, and I didnt like the riding position on the Heritage near as much as the King. But, I suggest test riding both and do what feels right to you.

The RK is a purpose built bike (touring) the Softail isn't it's a (cruiser) Harley tried to make into a touring bike.

I'll have to pile in on the RK side. I have RK standard, which dosen't have all the bells and whistles but it's got the touring ride. I have been on Heritages, and they're nice. But for the long haul, the RK can be loaded down more. I dont know if you're buying new or used, but around here (NC) you can find a good used RK cheap! Heritage has a higher resale according to the guys around here that sell used bikes. Bottom line to me...the Softtail Suspension and rigid mount weren't designed for the comfort of the Tour Class FL frames. Just my experience.

I bought my bike a friend the same year broughta Heritage. He loved his bike till he rode mine. He sold the Heritage and got a King. And lost about 3,000.00 in the process.

You are in the Touring Section you know.
That said, I've had ST (not Heritage Classic) and went with the RKC. The RKC is just a better bike, IMHO. I have a number of friends who love their heritages, however. If I weren't riding my RKC, the Heritage might be the other choice--unless I was riding 2-up.

I like the looks of the Heritage and everyone I know has one, but when I tried them out in Lake George, NYI did not like the way I sat in the bike instead of on the bike like the touring models.
