Why fool around with an MP3 player. Burn you CDs in MP3 format.

I used to put my 30 gig Zune in the glove box of my RG until it quit working. It did come back to life a couple of days later but it now rides in my pocket. The original Zune does use a hard drive but the new, smallerones are flash. I don't believe anyone currently has the technology required to make a 30 gig flash. The max right now is at 8 gig, hence the new Nano and Zune, both 8 gig I believe.

I use a Zune as well. No fancy mounting hardware for me. I just plug in a retractable cord to the Zune and the Aux port on the radio and throw the Zune in the fairing pouch. Works for me. I just start a playlist before taking off. If I want to change the playlist, I just pull into the next rest stop and change it. (I would do this even if handle bar mounted. Just safer in my opinion to be parked while surfing playlists than trying to tap buttons and read playlists at 70mph.)
