Default RE: XM Radio. Substitutes???

I am also in the process of figuring out my XM set-up for my SG. I know the OEM HD unit would be the cleanest and possibly the most easy to install, but the down side is the price, and for me since I am already a XM subscriber it would cost me a extra $6 a month to activate a second receiver on my existing account.

What I want to do is use my existing receiver for both my bike and my truck. I would need to buy a power supply and a antenna hook up, and also some way of mounting the Delphi Roady-XT unit I use. I think I am just going to buy an extra fuel door (they can be removed/installed in seconds), and just use a Velcro mount on that. For a antenna I will use one of these

And for power one of these.

Both of these items can be bought at

OK, I have not hooked it up yet, but I just bought a Sirius ConnectUniversal Car Tuner part #SC-C1. According to Sirius tech guys, this unit is a plug and play fit with the HD/HK Advanced Audio system. I had to order the overlay harness that you have to buy to run the HD XM unit, but instead of $500 for the HD module, this Sirius tuner is $50 complete!!!! The other thing that makes this a sweet deal for me, I have (and love) Sirius already so instead of $13/month for a new XM account, an additional Sirius radio will cost me $7. Talk about a win/win. As soon as I get the wiring harness (and get my bike back from the engine work) I will hook it up and report back to all. Keep your fingers crossed!

I'm interested to see how this works. That unit only works with sirius head unit, I just don't think it will work with the HK XM head. Hope your right but I'm betting a Corona it won't

Biz,

The top picture you posted will not work as your XM antenna. That is basically an FM modulator. that allows your signal to be force fed into the radio and blocks out interference as opposed to using a wireless FM transmiter. You do not need this as you can plug it into your AUX input on the fron of your radio.
You will still need one of the small flat sat. antennas to receive the XM signal.

Ok I have found the SC-C1 tuner and it is about 50 bucks, however I cannot find the adaptor to connect this tuner to the HK harley Radio. I am not sure the wiring harness that is used for the Harley XM setup will work. This will be an awesome alternative to the Harley XM setup if we can figure out the adaptor issue.....
If I can find the correct harness (adaptor) I will have this setup on my bike this weekend.

Goodwrnch......Did you order this harness from harley? And to clarify, the Sirius tech advised you that the harness for the XM setup would work with their Sirius radio? Thanks for the post, this is exactly what i have been looking for if this all works as it sounds it will.
mccline, I was not the one who spoke to the Sirius tech about this, but it may be worth a call.

I am very intested in the wiring harness / plug that hozz is referencing above. I have looking into both the HD plugs for XM interconnect, 70172-06 and 70164-06 and they do not look like they will work. I talked wiht the parts guy at local dealer and the HD plugs are 12 pin rectangular. The interfaceplugs for the Sirius SCC1 is a 8 pin DIN plug.

Any body else with info on how to integrate it into the radiowould be appreciated. I am notintested in everyone's exteranal mounts and using the Aux input. I wantit integrated into the radio.

If this coule be done, thatis money i would not even hesitate to spend. If i find anything out i will update you all.

Bo

I think this is as close as your going to get to a universal tuner for the HK radio but even it is not available for HK right now. I think it may be in the near future but nothing yet. HK and Harley may have an agreement not to offer a universal adapter so that HD is the sole provider of tuners that will work with the HD controls. Sony,Alpine,Kenwood all offer units now but not HK. So it will be very hard to believe that there will be anything to make a Sirius unit work with a HK Xm head. I've been wrong many times but I just don't think you'll find one. http://www.myradiostore.com/xm-radio...t-2-tuner.html

If anyone can findA HK-SC1 translator we will all be cruising to sirius radio on our bikes.
I just cannot find this part.
I have read that this is what is needed to connect the SCC1 to the Harley HK Radio.

I am hoping to hear from Hoz88 and find that he has successfully made this thing work.

It may be a problem. I don't know for sure. I do know all the aftermarket headunit are "SAT ready" they work with either brand or both together. Sirius tuners work with General motors vehicles that are XM ready only.
