Fix'n Tranny Prob....
Dunno about the rest of you guys, but I've never been inside a HD tranny..... Before tonight, that is!
Here's a look at what's inside and just how easy it was to get out.
Here,I have the pipe, trapdoor corver, and tranny top covers off.

Gotta pull the inner & outer primary covers & front belt pulley off.

Here's a look atthe drum & shiftpawl.

Here it is with the drum assy removed.

And here's the gear set....

& my empty tranny case!

This is kinda simplified, but it was really easy. When I started today, the pipe & trap door cover were off. Everything else I did tonight.... in about 90 minutes!
Now.... If I can just put it all back together ~ CORRECTLY!

The original DD6's used snap-rings to retain the bearings in the trap door, on the main & counter shaft(s). Under SERIOUS load, the helical gears will try to separate and the main shaft "walks" to the left. The first symptom is that all the slack will disapear from the clutch lever & then it can (and did with my new motor) cause the clutch to begin to disengage and slip.
