RE: Puller for Cam bearings when replacing inner bearings
OK, I get that you can use a cheaper puller to get the inner cam bearings out, but what about installing the new bearings? I thought the inner bearing puller you rent or buy is also used to install the new bearings. What do you use?
Seems to me if that riddle is solved, most people could do their own camchest maintenance or upgrades themselves since you can use the oven freezer method on the cam to cam chest outer bearings.
RE: Puller for Cam bearings when replacing inner bearings
You just tap the new one in with a bearing and seal driver( available at auto parts store) or tap it in with a socket(tap on the flat side of the bearing)

Would it be a good idea to put the bearings in the freezer for a bit before installing them in the case or is it something to not worry about?

Got it, I thought you needed some kind of special installer. Sounds pretty simple to me. I made bearing/seal drivers out of pcv pipe before. Yep, stick the bearings in the freezer a while, grease the outer edges with assembly lube, get them centered right and tap them in.
