That has happened to me too. The ultra is a lot of weight when you're unbalanced an on an incline, and the new brakes grab well too as you now know. When you fall your first move wants to be to get her up. Too bad this nice guy grabbed the wrong part. You and I have the exact same bike- color and all. When I looked at the pics of the damage I felt your pain. Other than that -probably very little damage. Hope the fix is quick and easy for you.
Heck falling over doen't even hurt my pride....I know it happens and was not even concerned.
Right now just kicking myself.....First major damage I personally have had to a vehicle in in a really really long time... and the funny thing is its not even that major.
Hubby is good guy...not saying a word just helping.
Hate to be negitive, but glass will not stick to abs, you would go alot further with some good epoxy ,after a clean on the inside with denatured alcohol.
This stuff works real well on ABS. http://www.rplastics.com/weldon4707.html

Hubby was worried about that. He has the weld in the garage. He went out to the hardware store.
Well I'm sure sorry to hear about that Bluerose and I'm glad you are OK but the busted Tour Pack is a real bummer. Hmm, maybe it looks like a large pick up truck could have backed into you in a parking lot and barely hit your bikewhile you were inside shopping.
Bluerose, sorry to hear about the mishap.
When i got my 08, i found a small blem in the clear coat and the dealer got me just the top to the trunk. I'm thinking that you should be able to just get the trunk part by itself, good luck and hope everything turns out alright.
I'm pretty sure you can order a replacement bottom painted to match. Might not be cheap.
Hubby thinks he can temporarily fiberglass the inside. The bags are not very thick and the break was clean.
Buying just the bottom bucket would definately be cheaper then the whole tour pak...All of the parts are fine...just need the bucket withthe latches rivited on.
Don't think you will have much luck with adhesion of fiberglass to the ABS they are made of. Go with the ABS welding mentioned above. There's also a kit on the market that uses a solvent to weld ABS.
