Default question about Biketronics

Hello everyone- long time lurker here. Should have introduce myself awhile back but mostly the quite type who like to read the touring threads.
Anyway my question is about the Biketronics setup. I have a 2002 ultra classic that I order the Sony / Biketronics setup. I received the unit and notice that the sony wiring harness and biketronics unit only have the front speakers wired through the biketronics unit. Did I order the biketronic part or do i have to splice the rear speaker outputs from the sony into the harness? If i have to splice them in, no big deal really. Does anyone know where the rear wires are into the AMP harness are colored coded.

Thanks!

Default RE: question about Biketronics

According to the wiring diagram in the HD Electronics Diagnostic Manual, the rear speaker wiring is in the Ultra AMP connector, not the Base Audio Connector that the Biketronics uses.

The rear speaker color code/wiring in the Ultra Amp connectoris: Right Rear: GN slot 11 (+), and LtGN/BN slot 4 (-); Left rear: BN slot 10 (+), and W/BN slot 3 (-).

Good luck; welcome to HDF; and let us know how it works for you with the rear speakers.

Default RE: question about Biketronics

Tinman: The Biketronicsinterface unitsare designed to use the Base Audio Connector on the various Electra Glides and Road Glides, primarily to retain the handlebar controls. On the Ultras, the rear speakers, passenger controls, intercom, etc. are all wired through the "Ultra" AMP connector that is not found on any other Electra Glide except the Ultra--that's why the back of your stock headunit there were two 23-place AMP connectors--the BAC and the Ultra connectors.

So splicing the the Sony headunit rear speaker wires to the Ultra wiring for the rear speakers is will work.

+1 for Biketronics customer service. And by all means call Mike and ask him also. My knowledge is based on having had to create the BAC on my police model EG in order to use the Biketronics interface, then doing the same for a buddy who installed an HD radio/CB on his '06 police model EG,so I re-created the BAC andUltra connector.

You might try calling up Biketronics customer service. I called them about a year ago and the tech was very helpful.
