I recently installed a Ness big sucker Stage 2. I was previously running a Ness stage 1. Do you guys think the larger air cleaner would cause a cough after a steady cruising pace and then rapid acceleration?
Like a stutter cough? Like you are cruising along at 60 (2500rpm ish) and you quickly roll on to pass another vehicle? Something like that? Sounds like a tuning issue, running rich backfireing out of the AC (like you would have with a carb when it loads up).
I think the Stage II is recommended for larger motors. The Stage I is recommended for the stock motors. That could be the issue, but I don't know what size motor you are running.

You could possibly be a little too lean now that you are putting more air in the engine. This can cause a "cough" when you"grab a handfullof throttle" due to the lack of fuel. If this is the case, then you'll have to richen up the mixture to compensate.
I've got a pumped up Merch Performance motor and had it Dyno tuned recently (not since installing the Big Sucker). It feels like a it is possible not getting enough fuel. No backfire through the carb. Do I need to have it re dyno tuned. When I had the tune I also installed a new Power Commander lll USB. Maybe I can just tweak it alittle and see what happens.

I'm not familiar with the PCIII. (I've got a SERT.) A new tune is probably in order, but that's gonna cost some big $$......There's plenty of folks around here with PCIII's that I'm sure can help you out, though. You'll probably have to richen it up a little. Yep, there's nothinglike the self inflicted "snow-ball" effect, LOL!
