O.k. sorry for the delay. My 05 manual shows the ground comes to the radio through the gray connector, (at the back of the radio)pin 11and pin 19wire color for both isblack with a green stripe. They connect to ground at the upper tripple clamp. Any"open " in this wired connection and your radio will seek to ground through the antenna.
I just found this post again the 03 manual shows no connections to the radio as per grond thru the antennas but there is a blk with that mounts under the seat that connects to the main wire harness of the radio it would be in pin location 8
BIG THANKS to RED E GLIDE & SEWERAT for the help. Took off front fairing found ground wire disconnected, reconnented and radio works fine. I really like the look w/o tourpack while still having the option to put tour pack back on. Again thanks for the help guys. The conversion slowly begins--
