I've been looking into getting a RG and getting rid of my Dyna. I know I'll miss the WG a little but everyone tells me the RG is great and I'll only miss my Dyna for about 20 miles. Anyway, I could probably sell my Dyna and buy an 04-05 RG with 15-40K for $12-14,500 and not have to make any payments. My question is if the 07-08's with the 96" and 6 speed are worth making payments for 2-3 years or not. I would have to finance $4-8,000 depending on what I decide.
I didn't I had the same optoins, to buy my 2002 or to get a brabd new 2007? I went with the 2002, with the money I saved I could do the motor the right way, plus with some luck you get a bike that already has stage 1 or more done already.
I struggled with buying an 08. I had an 04 Road Glide thatran well and was dependable. I decided to take the plunge, I feel the upgrades were worth the price. I only have about 700 miles on the 08 Road Glide but have been more than satisfied with it.
I had also thought about getting something like around $12,000 and just doing the motor right awayto a 95" with a full stage 2, but I had heard that 6 speed is great and with the 96" the only upgrade really needed is the stage 1.
I think at this point I'm leaning towards the 07-08 to get the 96 and 6 speed.
I would go with the no payment plan myself. If I can't pay for it I won't buy it. Thats just me... I sold my 02 RG w/ 20k on itnot long ago for $12,000. In my opinion someone got a lot of Roadglide for their money. Perfect condition, 95in, PCIII, custom bars, Clearview windshield, sundowner seat, detach tourpack, V&H pipes, brand new Metzlers, blah, blah, blah. meticulously maintained to boot. The point is you can get a lot for your money. PS you will love the RoadGlide. I bought a StreetGlide and love it but I will own another RoadGlide someday soon. If you do miles it's the best. Good luck whatever you do. You'll sleep better without a payment book in your drawer.
I have riden an07 with the 110 and the 6 speed, I prefer my 95 highcomp with the 5 speed. Only time I would use 6th is when i am over 70mph and then I'm just looking to get another speeding ticket???
