Default which oil temperature guage?

I'm thinking about replacing the air temp gauge with a oil temp gauge or adding a oil temp gauge somehow on a 08 ultra. I've been reading about them on here and looking on the net and have narrowed the choices down to the Mcewen unit at wally's or the dakota digital unit. I like the digital cause its more of an precise reading, 2 year warranty and 400 degree reading but wondering seeing the blue digital readout during the day. The wally's unit is cheaper by about 50 bucks and will match the existing gauges better but its a sweep dial won't be as accurate or as high of temperature of gauge. Opinions on which one is better? If choose othe please explain. Thanks

I have the HD digital LCD dip stick that shows temp and oil level............very easy to use and very accurate. Install is a lot easier then the others also.

I have heard from many here that those tend to fail after the first rain you hit,or if you wash it.

I would think you would want all the gauges to match in the fairing? Might look out of place if you had all white/aluminum face gauges and 1 black LED face

I had one, got caught in a downpour with no where to go but further on the ride and by the time I got home it looked like it had water and condensation in it. didn't work afterwards. the dealer gave me a refund and I went back to the old stock dipstick. NC is not usually as dry as its been this winter. If you live in a rainy area you might want to think twice about the hd digital dipstick.

I bought a Wally's gauge and didn't like the way it looked. It does not match the factory gauge package that well. I sent it back and bought the HD gauge.

Guess we're lucky... Son has one on his '05 and had been thru a few down-pours and uses the high pressure washer to clean his bike.. I have one on my '07 and so far it has worked great even in rain and washings.... And they're both still working...

Dito what Pappy said. I wash my bike all the time. No issues with the digital dipstick!

I've had it installed for over 2 years with no problems at all..................rode about 500 miles in the pouring rain this past summer, wash the bike all the time, been caught in a few other downpours and rain storms.

I too have heard about other's problems with them...............but none here or with my buddy's on his bike either.

I fitted the Roger Mcewen oil temp gauge. It works great it does fog up at times but so does the other gauges. If you go the temp gauge mount the thermostat in the sump next to the drain plug
