True duals will not lower engine temp but remapping your ECM will.
I tired them and it just felt like it was now hotter on the left side. Took 'em off and went back to stock
hahahaha.....noticed that right off on my '06 Deluxe. Stock had very little heat...but the trueduals had my left leg toasting pretty quick [&:]

The problem with MOST true duals is REVERSION. This alone will cause a temp increase in the cylinders.

The only thing to lower engine temps is the proper tune for the motor.

I installed tru duals on my 07 road glide. Before I removed the factory pipes and mufflers, I used a thermal heat gun to measure the temp, on top of the cylinder heads just to the left of each spark plug. I have yet to install and aftermarket tuner. Anyway, after comparing each set of pipes on same temp days on the same ride I take each day, I can say that the temps have come down by no more than 10 degrees.
So yea, they lower the temps just ever so slightly.

How much does a thermal heat gun cost?

What most of them said. The richening of the mixture lowers temps... But duals sound more bad to the bone. Gotta do it.

You can buy an infrared thermometer in an auto parts store for around $20.00. I tried one, they work good.
