congrats.
i went with the 08 RG as well. have only 250 miles on mine. did the 103 when i purchased it and am very happy. the day i put the majority of the miles on mine it was very windy, but it handled like a champ. much more stable than my previously owned road king, which i loved.
i couldn't tolerate the stock seat and have ordered a mustang, which has yet to arrive. in the meantime i used a friends 08 ultra seat. it is a little better, but not as good as previous mustangs i have owned. the one thing i did notice was when i first road it with the stock seat, i wanted to change out the bars immediately. after riding with the ultra seat, the bars were actually pretty comfortable. the problem i forsee is that the mirrors touch the windshield at full lock now, so when the clearview comes in, i will have to make some adjustments someway.
also noted on the long ride i had to make a quick stop at a light when someone checked up in front of me. the abs didnt' kick in, but the brembos pulled me down straight and true and QUICK! think i'm gonna love this bike!
Excellent choice there Ted. You'll find that the RG is a scooter that you can just get on and go. A 300 mile after dinner ride is nothing to a RG. I've done several 700+ mile days on mine with the stock seat and bars. The RG will have the Iron Butt Association rethinking their minimum mileage for an award.
I agree with everything you said. I installed WG bars. They work for me. May go with Wild ones down the road when I change to braided lines. For now, a good $40 fix.
Congrats on the new Roadie, Love mine! If that wobble or twitch bother's you ( it did me ) A SRT8 is about the best IMHO though there are other's out there I chose this style because I could add a center stand that would let me get the wheel up for cleaning http://www.ridestr8.com/
I put a clearview on mine and have no complaints at all! I did just buy a new shield from Klock Werks, here's the thread https://www.hdforums.com/m_2656810/tm.htm
Congrats on your bike, it sounds like the two of you have a great future together. I also have an 08 RG and luv it. Rides great and looks good going down the road. I'm 5" 9" too; I'm in the process of adding 08 Heritage bars. I'll let you know how the fit once I can try them out for a longer ride.
