Default Air Baffle

Does this air baffle block air going to the motor? What air does it block from the rider? I'm just having trouble visualizing how air that goes between the forks will end up hitting the rider and not the motor if you don't have this installed?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Less air comes up around the tank, deflects air towards the motor. I run it year round.

..bought one..installed..rode 40 Interstate miles..removed and returned to dealer for return..didn't appear to do much, other than change airflow from lower face to a little higher and more pronounced on sides of my helmet..but a lot of people swear by them..might try one and see what it does. Five minute install, just be sure to run a 1/4-20 tap to chase paint from threads before install.

So it keeps air from running off the tank and up your nose?

I did not realize I had one till I bought one and went to put it on. I might take it off and see if there is a difference.

I put one on my Ultra, but can't tell any difference. Others swear by them.

This was a stock item until about 2002, I think. The idea was to deflect more air toward the engine to keep it cooler. Harley removed it but offered it as an option, ostensibly because while it helped cool the engine, it warmed the rider. Of course, hot riding discussion has now gone to a whole 'nother level.
