they are a direct replacement for the stockers just chrome
you remove them from your switch housings and replace them with the new ones
can be a little tedious. not to bad if you take your timeand pay attention to how they came apart
they also include a small plastic tool to remove them also small springs on some of them

something I did the second time around was warm them just a bit with a heat gun but be very careful not to melt them. I think the chrome covering makes them more brittle and just a little heat flexes them up a bit. Also the first time around they had been in my coled garage for a week before I installed them and I think that made them a little more brittle.
