I was thinking of doing the black front end. How well does it stand up to bugs, road debris, etc.
That crap usually just wipes off chrome. I am torn between doing the front chrome, or black.
I travel about 65 miles 1 way to work. about 7-8k a year.
powder will stand-up to just about anything...chips, scratches, bugs, solvents...etc.
did my lower sliders about a year ago... and not so much as a nick...
Allways loved chrome, problem was the more you put on the longer it took to clean bike, just purchased a roadking w/blacked out front, powder coated, will be interesting to see how it cleans up , 3 more months till I can ride, unless I trailer 800plus miles.
My old shovel fork legs have been powder coated since 1996 and are still show worthy. Yes, I ride it! Yes I do... no really. The wifes Sporty fork legs have been done since 2003 and also look like they were just done.
Powder coating is flexible, so it won't chip or crack. It can also be wet sanded and buffed out just like paint so if you get caught it a freak sand storm, or run through a biblical swarm of locust you can shine 'em up just like new. Try THAT with chrome.
