At first I hated the fairing mounted mirrors on my SG. I was about to have them removed and the fairing holes patched up. Even went so far as to buy handlebar mirrors and ride with both. But I gave the fairing mirrors another chance and now I really like them.
First impression was that I could not see directly behind me. But you adapt, and soon enough you're just as comfortable with them as with any other mirrors.
It took me a week to get used to the new positioning of the mirrors, when I traded for my SG. I like the looks of these mirrors better, than theoriginal mirrors that we all grew up with. If you are worried about blind spots, Kuryakyn makes a set of fairing mount mirrors that have a short extension on them. I will be ordering a set of these simply because they are chrome, but they also have an led turn signal incorportated on the side of them.Let me know if I can be of any help.
I switched out because when it's cold and I wear leather I couldn't see past my own shoulders. With the fairing mounted mirrors, I do see more of my hands than I thought I would, but NOT enough to go back. That, and I love the clean lines of the bike now.
Well some of you may know me by now as an eBay, and Google digger. (researcher). Best price so far is $149.00 and free shipping. Chrome. (they don't make black) and NOT the ones with the lit turn signal lights..
MSRP $199.00 +.. If someone can do better.. let me know.. You know, I think we all have a hard time paying a 149 dollars for mirrors?????[sm=lame.gif]
