The Nuvi is a good GPS, but the Zumo is top of the line. The phone connection works bluetooth so you can make & receive calls from your headset while riding if you want. I paired mine with Scala's "Rider Team Set" & have GPS commands, telephone, & intercom with my wife. The phone function also loads your phonebook in the Zumo & displays it on screen when you want & identifies incoming callers so you can accept or reject answering them.
Which is not correct. The Zumo is a waterproof Nuvi. If you make incorrect statements, don't cry when you get flamed.
Care to explain exactly which part is not correct? The Nuvi is *not* a good GPS?, or The Zumo is *not* top of the line?, or was it another part of the paragraph? You're the one that shouts "they are identical" & "the only DIFFERENCE is the case & the buttons". Make up that inflamed little mind. They're "identical" or they're "different".
If you're too cheap or too poor to afford good equipment that's fine with me. In fact, I don't care. I've owned 4 Garmins (3 currently) & can afford to buy what works. Get back to us when you have to send that Nuvi to Garmin for service & they see the water marks on the inside.
Coming from a person who has owned several garmin units I currently have a Nuvi 760 and a Zumo 550...... previous GPS untis nuvi 680, street pilot 2720, garmin 60CS, street pilot IV and some others
The Zumo has several features that make it better for the motorcycle or just in general.
1) Create routes on the PC and transfer them to the Zumo
2) Can have multiple waypoints on your route
3) Waterproof
4) Removeable battery
5) Can save a track log as a route
6) Mounts for the car and bike along with a very nice cary case
7) there are more but these are the key items
This is just my opinion, I have owned several different GPS's and the zumo is a great GPS for a motorcycle. Now yes it is more $$$ but in my personal opinion worth it.
I got a Zumo 450 for Christmas. I ordered a cigarette lighter power cord from Garmin and found out that it would not plug into the unit or motorcycle mount. I called Garmin, and was told that I would need a "car mount" for the cord to plug into it. Now the good part. They send me a car mount out for free!I don't know if they always do that, but they did this time. I was very impressed with the great customer service. see ya Ken

Who's flaming now? The Zumo is a variation on the Nuvi, not any "higher" in the line or in function. If you're too set in your ways to realize they are identical in function and **** away your money...

'Smatter Steve? Runnin' out of facts to confuse? Too winded to keep tellin' all the Zumo owners here they're "out of their minds", or shout at me anymore? The units are different. They're designed for different uses. Not my idea, just a fact. The Zumo 550 is currently the top of the line for the use asked about. Just another fact. By the way, it's kind of you to worry about how I spend my money but believe me, I'm not interested in your opinion on the matter.
Bottom line Rick, the Zumo is designed for the bike (including being waterproof) which is where you want to use it.... Can't go wrong whith that decision.
