I used to use Syn 3 in my tranny until a good mechanic suggested I use a good transmission oil. He said syn 3 is too thin. After the change I agree my tranny shifts much better and quieter.
What do you think of useing syn 3 in the tranny?
Syn 3 is 20/50 ENGINE oil, you need a GEAR oil in the trans because of the shear factor of the gears like Mobil 1 75/90 or redline shockproof heavy. You wouldn't use a straight 10 weight in the engine would you? Why not? Too thin?
Being told Syn 3 is OK for trans is a compromise at best on their part. Not the best way to go in any case.
