Default RE: Fuel Octane?

A few years ago at a campground in Sturgis we had "neighbors" that had come up prepared to race in the 1/8 mile drags they have almost every night. It just so happened the racer had a minor accident and couldn't compete, so that had several 10 gallon containers of 110 octane fuel they were trying to sell off. Several of us pitched in and filled up our bikes (I had an 02 Dyna at the time). It was the day before I was set to take off for home. Was riding 2-up pulling a heavily loaded Bushtec trailer and the bike ran so strong I had trouble keeping it under 90 on the interstate. It was definitely running hot though and the first gas station I came to (about 70 miles) away I topped it off with normal premium to dilute it down a little. Didn't seem to hurt the bike, but don't know what would happen if you ran it much longer.

I say run the best you can get, if 91 is the best then so be it. I must say that my scoot run by far better on 92 and 93 octane in kentucky than the 91 octane in Phoenix. By the way anyone know where I can get 92-93 octane in Phoenix?

Sure do! At the paint store, or the chemical supply warehouse. Pour a half-gallon of toluene (or xylene) and top it off with 91 octane! Presto!

Highest available 91 'round here. Cheveron or Shell only. Arco's super made it knock.
