Default 96" Touring Tips Needed

I have put on 15,000 this past year and will be looking at possibly 20 to 25 this year. About the only complaint I have is fuel consumption. I am usually the only FLHT in the group and the first to need to stop.So what I was wondering was does all of the extra added wind protection cause the fuel mileage to drop that much. If so is it enough of an increase to remove the lowers and air deflectors when warm enough to do so. I haven't ridden without these items yet but then again this is my first dressed out bike. I can live with the wind but if it really won't make a difference I will just continue to enjoy not getting wind fatigued. I am also open to any other suggestions anyone may have about truely getting around the country on her.

Hmmm....with the mix ah ride with, it's usually the Sporty's needin' gas long afore ah do. One thing ya might consider doin' is carryin' the one-liter fuel cells from a sportin' goods store - ah carry 4 of 'em on the bike w/Stabil-ized fuel in 'em. What kinda range are you gettin' afore havin' ta stop? For me, I'm comfortable out to 'bout 150 miles. With the fuel cells along, I really don't worry too much, but I average between 33-48 mpg depending on how we're ridin'.

Hmm..don't know what to say here. I'm usually the last one needing gas. I go about 190 miles between stops and average about 43MPG. Stock. Doyou have mods ie: ECM, pipes, high flow air cleaner that will do it. One thing Harleys do better than most other manuactures bikes is get good gas mileage. What year is your bike?

How many miles on yours? I'm doing 70-85 with the pack I ride with. I get 143 out of a tank around town (bad hand, bad hand .) Highway only riding I get 190.

I will count my blessings. I get around 190-200 mi to a tank. That is combo riding hwy and local. Hwy I was getting 210-220 on '07 RG low miles. Grant it, the temp was cooler here in WNY in Sept.
