Hi Guys,
I am about to take delivery of a new FLHTCUSE and Iintend to fix onmy Zumo 550, as Idon't recon I will use thesat navthat is fitted as standard.
Anyone know if theZumo will wireinto the bikes intercom system without much hastle?
get a 3.5mm male to male plug from Radio Shack, this will allow you to hear the voice prompts over the speakers or through the head sets if you have them......you will only hear the Zumo, if it's playing XM radio or MP3 music and the voice from a planned route. The GPS voice will over ride the music. Also, if you have it, you will hear your phone through Blue tooth....
I like mine a lot, I only use XM radio and MP3 player.....works great though the AUX plug.....
Kennady Cell Set also makes a system that will intergrate the compete system, they are on the web....
I know you can get a stereo patch cable and go to the auxilary input on the radio, but I dont know about the intercom
The patch cord is how its done, once its into the HD stereo, you can hear the gps voice commands either through the speakers or through the headset.
Since its coming in through the AUX port, you cannot listen to your radio, CD, CB, etc and still get the voice prompts. The Garmin has a slot so you can stick a 2,4, or whatever Gb SD memory card in it to hold mp3 files. You can get the gps voice commands while listening to these mp3 files.
Kevin, Pirateye here, is a good friend and recently hard-wired his Zumo 550 to the HK headunit on his '06 Classi/Ultra--he didn't want the plug in the face of the headunit. Shoot him a PM if you would like to do the same.
I have the Zumo 550. It's great and really easy to use, even with your riding gloves on. Only problem I have is that the bluetooth connection to my phone (Blackberry 8830) requires a mike (not the HD Intercom mike) so that you can answer any incoming calls. I have the XM radio unit with the Zumo so I can hear XM, GPS, Intercom, CB over my headset...all that's lacking is the phone mike. The Zumo forum has a good page on "hard wiring" your Zumo to the bike.
