Default 06 Throttle Cable "Slop"

Anyone running an 06 FI bike that doesn't have some slop in the throttle?
The reason Iam asking, is I stopped by the dealer to inquire about it, and was told all new bikes must have it !!!!! wtf
As a matter of fact, one of the mechanics was outside having a smoke, so I went over to him and asked. He walked over to my bike, and said he usually leaves a little more then what was on mine.
So I walked into the showroom and every bike I tried has the same slop
Never noticed it when I first rode the bike, so I was thinking maybe the cable
s t r e c h e d out a little.

Now its no problem when riding, but it seems funny when sitting at a light and you want to "crack" the throttle.
I guess I'll get use to it, but its cold, wind gusts to 50, and 4" of snow on the ground!
Got to think of something

I've ridden several FI equiped bikes and each one has pretty much the same amount of slop. At 1st it seems odd but then after you pile on the miles you get used to it and never realy notice it anymore.

I ran across the same thing on my 05 efi FLHT, tried to adjust it out but then when you turn the bars to the right the idle rises, the slop needs to be there to allow for cable movement when the bars are turned.

Mine has very little slop - I'm surprised it can't be adjusted out at the throttle.

Why don't you adjust it yourself? There are two cables, a pull cable at the front of the throttle grip and a return cable at the rear of the throttle grip. Loosen both of them so they are very sloppy. Then adjust the pull, the front cable, until you get full throttle. You will be able to hear it click at full when you open it up. Then, adjust the return, the rear cable, to get whatever amount of slack you desire. It's an easy one minute job.

Best to open the air cleaner and watch the throttle plate while you go for wide open throttle - when you have that, the pull (front) cable is correct. I simply take up the slack with the rear cable and then make sure you have no increase in throttle when you turn the bars. Like someone said, very easy to do.

I readjusted mine last night when I changed teh grips (THAT is always an adventure in profanity..) got it down to a gnats glute...no prob, but there needs to be a little slop,
maybe an eighth inch or so, to keep it from binding...
