ive been thinking about getting some fairing mounted mirrors. i have a stock '08 ultra. i have a little trouble seeing behind me when somebody rides on back.
if you have the fairing mounted mirrors....do you like them?
are they any better than the stock mirrors?
The fairing mount mirrors are nice. I've only heard one person complain about not being able to see with them. You can deviate slightlyfrom where directions say to mount them. Have someone help you do a mock set up.
I have an 07 Street Glide with the fairing mounted mirrors and don't like them as much as I liked the mirrors on my Road King that I traded in. I could see better with the Road King mirrors but the style of the fairing mounted mirrors are great.
My dad was having the same issue not seeing and he bought the Mirror extender kit for his ultra puts the mirrors up higher off the handle bars maybe 3inchs he likes them alot better. Several i have talked to said they cant see **** in the fairing mounted mirrors.
I've been following threads on these mirrors for awhile now as I was considering going to them. There seems to be more than a few who really like the looks of them even though they might not be able to see behind them as well as with the handbar mirrors. To me being able to see behind me is way more important than cool looking mirrors. So I think I'll stick with my stock mirrors.
From: i live outside Omaha Ne on the Iowa side in the Loes hills, some great places to ride
RE: fairing mounted mirrors
I have a FLHX with fairing mounted mirriors.
i am sure it is where they are mounted.
i have one the RH side i can see just fine behind me with
the LH side though is mounted a little to low and in just a little too far and i see alot of hand as Streetrunner says.
i sure would mount a set but i would definately have alot of help finding the right location and maybe out and up a litlte more, before mounting them
and if i was purchasing a new Street Glide i would sit on the very bike i was getting and check the mirrior position out before making the deal
