I will be picking up my 08 SG in a week or two, Having stage 1 done , thinking of having 510 cams done also. I do not intend to use any type of tuner. Just stage 1 and rush slipons. would now be the time to change over to the cam drive?

Why not just ride for a while and think about it. You may be opting for the sert before long. Do the cams later, get a feel for your scoot first, but that's jusy my opinion, and we all know what an opinion is.
If you're going to upgrade cams you will need a tuner so why waste the money on the stage 1 download?
Also, I'd do some checking to see how the upgraded cam chains and pads are holding up on the 06 Dynas and 07 bikes. Might not be necessary to go gear drive.

Your '08 is already running so lean it wants to burn up stock, now if you do an air cleaner, exhaust, and cams.........you better wear a fire suit when you ride that thing.......it will burn up in no time.
Save your money and run away from the dealer with the bike stock, then go aftermarket parts for the power upgrades you want to do. It will work out better in the end and give you better performance.
This is my 5th Harley, I have always had stage 2 big bore kits in all of them. Never needed a race tuner in any of them . This time I just felt the bike has enough power for my type of riding. Just thought about putting cams in now instead of later. I think I will take your advice and see if they are realy needed later.
Thanks for the thoughts

Good advice. Wait on cams till it's broken in. You'll for sure be able to see an improvment with the new camsif you can wait tillthen.
