RE: Any chance of establishing an FL with sidecar thread
...I'm not against it, or anything...but it seems that the group would be so small that it would wind up with the same handful of people just goin round-and-round...but who knows....
RE: Any chance of establishing an FL with sidecar thread
I had a 90 Ultra w/sidecar back in 90 and loved it. Harley introduced the Ultra and Ultra Sidecar in 89. I use to ride sidecar wheelies all over town. Unfortunately, I had all kinds of electrical problems with it and traded it off after a year for a 91 Ultra w/out sidecar. It was a blast while I had it though.
Are you kidding there is so many things to discuss about sidecars. How they're set up. Toe in toe out. Various riding techniques. For example going down hill and taking a right turn at the same time is a biotch. And so many other thjings. Riding a side car is an art of techniques. I kow what you're saying is that not many have one.

Hey. Wanted to say I checked out your web site, the music section and listened too all the available demos and I really enjoyed your country selection the best out of all of the choices. Are you currently a profession bass player?

There are a lot of questions about Two Plus wheels these days. I think it would be a great resource for those that are considering the conversion or addition.
A lot of folks just look at a Hack as a cool addition without any knowledge of the riding skill set required. I took the class while the CFO took her Trike class. It's a thrill a minute. No feelinglike flying a hack in a tight circle and riding straight out. Looked way cool, but I could not balance that thing. If your head is that far toward Port, somethin bad is usually gonna happen, two wheel that is...

I didn't take a course but I did read the BMW sidecar 30-40 something page converted from German to English manual as well as look up as many official sidecar WWW's that I could. It did give me a degree of heads up but nothing the gave me more then an entry level understanding. And everything you said about it is true. Going left is not so bad. Going right is a struggle. The sidecar makes the bikerattle, shimmie and move in ways a solo rider is not used to.
The best advise was take it slow. Slow in the corners, slow on the uptake, slow on the down shift etc...
RE: Any chance of establishing an FL with sidecar thread
The thingI liked most, was the right hand turn at the 15-20 mph...
Throw your azz over into the hack almost, clip the front brake, slide the rear around the corner with power while on the front brake.
The skills test was a hoot. Just glad the Circle Flying wasn't part of it. The avoidance maneuvers were interesting as well. Flick the bars to the right, fly the car and ride over the obstacle. Three wheel, two wheel, three wheel. It's a fun three day course. Offered through Ever Green at some Commuity Colleges. Here in VA, NORVA Community College. Three riders from Tidewater VA, Norfolk, Sufolk, Va Beach came up to teach. Here there is no difference for two or three whell bikes, and any MSF basic course skills test is accepted by VDOT.
Hard front braking can cause a pitch over, lose of rear brake,,,longer stopping distance.
I could never lock the rear wheel cause of the pivot line lift on the front.
Different set of skills. I had read an article when we were thinking of hacking a Sportster for the CFO and the guy who wrote the article got his new Ultra home, something like 10 miles and parked it for 6 months. Scare the craaaapp out of him.We talked to a Champion Sidecar installer and went with the trike on a Electra Glide conversion.
