Default Turn Signals

I was wondering it any one could help me out with this problem. I have a 07 FLHTCU and when I bought it I had the dealer put a wiring harness for a trailer. Well the trailer needed a 6 post conection and the dealer only put a 4 post conection.Well I took off what they puton and tapped into the wires they tapped into, and got the trailer light to work properly. Now I have noticed that when I do not have the trailer hooked up the turn signals on the bike areacting up, when I turn them on they start blinking at the normal interval, but after the 2nd or 3rd blink, the blinking doubles it speed.

Could be a flasher relay......or they might have tapped into a ground at the connection.....

Sounds to me like they wired it directly - NOT a good/recommended thing to do!! Those circuits will overload your OEM harness!!!!

You need a circuit isolator - I know Bushtec has 'em, and I'm sure other vendors do as well. Whatever you do, install one before you do anything else!!!!!!!

Try this to return to normal flashers. You may have to do this when you remove the trailer in the future also.

1.Actuate the left turn signal. Allow the turn signal bulbs to
flash at least five times.
2. Actuate the right turn signal. Allow the turn signal bulbs
to flash at least five times.
3. Turn off the ignition switch.

Yes, thanks for the reply, I will have to go HD to find out if they have a Circut Isolator for a 6 pole connector not a four pole connector, which is what they put on, and I took off and tapped directly into the brake & turn signals wires.

I have got the same problem. My solution is to disconnect the battery, wait 30 seconds, reconnect.
