Default Fairing Adjustment

I am considering going from a Heritage to a SG but I'm not completely sold on the fairing. For those who have converted to a fairing, was it a major adjustment? Any regrets or wish you did it sooner?

Thanks!

the level of comfort you achieve will quickly get you used to the fairing.

I had a Heritage, went to the RK then later to an Ultra Classic.. The fairing is something to overcome a little as you can't see the front fender of your bike... Not a real big problem... Just have to learn to look straight ahead instead of downwards... The big fairing is nice however and once you get used to it.... would be hard to go back.

I went from bikes with no windshield to a bike with a frame mount fairing.

With the solid fairing always in one position it took a little time to get used to. You dont see the fork movement or that little piece of road movement down and in front of you. You ride a little bit more heads up looking farther out in front (which I think is actually a good thing). I never really looked down at my fender much unless parking and such as that anyway.

Then went to the Ultra Classic (Batwing Fairing)and it took very little time to get used to. Still cant see front fender much, but get back the fork and windshield movement.

So from my experience I would say from windshield to solid fairing was the hardest transition, but the comfort levelof having a fairing is real nice. You should have no problems, Ride and Enjoy!!

after many metric bikes and two road kings finally transitioned to the ultra classic and the fairing was no problem at all...very easy change and now wonder how i ever rode without the tunes and cruise control!

go for it!

I also went from no fairing to frame mount then to the batwing. Like others have said, you learn quickly to look further ahead which is a good thing. One ride and I was sold. I still ride a softail from time to time, but I really enjoy being behind the fairing. You can also change the look and feel by changing windshield heights. I have 5 that range from 4" solid black up to 10.5" light gray tint and they can be changed out in less than 5 min.

It will take longer to get used to the rubber mount engine "shake" at idle than the fairing.

Went from a Road King to a SG.

Wish I'd done the batwing sooner. I absolutely love it and won't own another bike without one, ever.
