Went from a Super Glide to my Road Glide. The transition was easy and the level of comfort acheived emense. No issues with the fairing at all.

It took two weeks for me to adjust to riding around with a huge sh*t-eating grin on my face!

I have a sporty with and without, clip on, windshield, and an ultra with the fairing.
I like the fairing. If you ever ride in rain, that's that wet stuff that lame asses won't ride in, then you will especially appreciate the fairing.
It's nice in cooler weather, and the reflection from the headlight on a windshield isn't there.
My sporty, with the windshield on, reflects light back at me, you wouldn't really notice it till you put a hand up and block it or something, but no reflection from my headlight with the fairing.
Less wind beating you down on long rides will leave you feeling less fatigued.
Your hands may still get a bit cold, but nowhere as cold as on a shieldless bike.
I have the glove boxes on the lower fairings, and leather pouches on them that hold my drinks like a cup holder, and other stuff, while I'm riding. I just reach down and grab my fountain soda and refresh myself at a whim. Maybe that makes me wimpier than a non-rain rider...[:-]
I have the ultimate solution. A bike with fairing, and one without

I went from a Street Bob w/no windshield to a Street Glide w/bat wing.. I have had many bikes and stayed away from those big giant clumsy things with all the trunks and antennas, lights and flags etc. But I am older now and LOVE my SG..!! I learned to drive 4-6 car (boat) lengths ahead of me anyway, so not seeing the ft. tire doesn't bother me.. All the gages are great. except. you have to get oil temp instead of air temp.. They even make a radar detector w/voltage indicator that fits in the dash..!! Nothing like having cruise control and kicking back behind the fairing on a long run..!!
