Ignition interlock?
I think I would use one if my state allows it. There's no way I would ride illegal. You could lose a lot more than your bike. You can find out more info on this at Breathalyzer Interlocks.
I know someone who tried to get out of installing the IID on his '55 panhead by saying he sold the bike and no longer "owned" a vehicle to install a device on but, Virginia won't reissue your license without the use of an interlock device on a vehicle for 6 months. I guess they figure you don't need a license if you don't own a vehicle to drive. :P They will, however, allow you to have it installed an a vehicle you "borrow" if the registered owner is there and gives consent.
Are you serious......you got anythingfrom that states DMV with the regulations on this device. I have heard of something along those line getting used by mommy and daddy to watch their little deliquients. I never seen/heard of one getting used on a MC.
I would never let them hack into the harnes of my bike.....anyhow here in North Jersey its all about how good your lawyer is....usually they can get you off a MV case if your not a "problem driver".
So....how does this (*very hard to belive) "ignition interlock" connect to the bike so that it prevents it from starting?
If you saw this guy....and you ride with him, or you in the same club.....why the hell didnt you just go over and ask him?
Next......how do you....the operator of the vehicle get notified at these random times so you can blow into it while driving?
and lastly.....if you did get "alearted" (*again hard to belive) why the hell couldnt you just pull over to the side of the road. I live in the most congested state in the union.....New Jersey, and I always have plenty of room to pull oner for a few seconds when I have to blow into my alki alarm.
I dont know.....I think I have to call bull **** on this one boys.....????

A friend of mine in Utah has just had an Ignition Interlock installed on his bike. The device is mounted in the saddlebag and has a tube that runs up under his vest and Yes you do have to blow whenever the light goes off. The device has to be downloaded every month and the printout is sent to the court. Any attempt to try and start the bike with alcohol in the system is a probation violation and probation can be revoked.
