Another vote for Firefox , Internet Explorer 7 seems to be a bit slower than it should be.
I have no problems , other than peak time slows a bit , but that's normal.
Personally , I am running Debian Linux and Iceweasel browser , and have no speed problems with this forum.
If you want to go faster on the net with any browser and Windows , go to
http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks
Run the test and see if your RWIN is less than 20000 , if so get DRTCP and set it up to around 90000.
Some windows machines are set at about 17420 and will be a bit sluggish.
My Linux machine is set (natively) at 177920 for RWIN and just flies normally.
Just a thought..

This forum blazes for me. Just a click a link, bam its open right away.

The number one thing to improve speed is to dump Internet Exploder and start using Firefox or Slimbrowser.
+1... At work I have to use Explorer and the site is real slow.. But at home I use Firefox and never have a problem....

Yep, Saturday and Sunday a week ago I couldn't even get on the forum, I sit for 5 minutes numerous times waiting for it to connect. I could get MSN to come up but once I clicked on HD Forum it would just sit trying to connect. I called Charter Communications about their slow down, they said the slow down was because of heavy traffic, not being able to connect to HD Forum wasn't on their end, to many users trying to get on at one time. Sounds like an upgrade is in order, right.

I've noticed some of the advertiser content loading very slowly lately. Could be offsite content that's causing the problem.

I use FF as well, and there've been a few days where the site seemed unusually slow for me.

Firefox didn't make any difference to me. I even blocked avatars and sigs and it still is slower than any other web site I've ever been on.

I changed over to firefox and things are much better now. In fact the reason I did was how slow this site is. It is now much better. You must remember that even with firefox you are limited because of you system-your pc abilities. I have 2 gb memory, dual ddr, and 250 gb hard drive. Then you have to rely on your internet server, I am using basic DSL with 3 pc's connected to it. If anyone in the house hold uses pando and keeps it running on the same connection you will have slower speeds. When my wife is downloading from pando my speed is cut in half but not with any other.
Just a thought

A +1 for Firefox. HDForums is no slower here than it ever was, though never has been a speed demon, and better than several months ago when they upgraded the server and/or software. Don't expect any help from the sysops, as I had a problem with the forum demanding a username and password multiple times per day for weeks and never got a response despite four emails and a message in the Forum Issues section. I deleted all HDForums.com cookies and that fixed it for the time being, but that was the second such problem I've had, so I expect it again.
