Hey folks:
I'm new to this forum and I have an issue that I could use some input on...
I purchased an '07 Street Glide, Last July, (103 BB, SE AC, VH 2 to 1 ProComp exhaust), and I love it. I get this stupid grin on my face every timeI'm in the saddle. The only issue I haveis thatI getan unbelieveble upper back and neck ache after riding a couple hundred miles and it is because of the position of the stock Handlebars. I had a Heritage Softail B4 my SG and I like to put my feet on the HW pegs and lay back when I ride.
I knowit's becausemy arms arefully streached and I end upwith an extended reachfor my Grips when I'm in this riding position. I need to replace the Handlebars to a set that is more accomidating to my riding position. I need them to pull back more toward the rider but at the same height and wrist position as the stock bars. I wouldn't mind if they would be a little wider as well. I would prefer that they would not restricked my line of sight with my fairing mounted mirrors but would replace the fairing mounted mirrors to bar mounts if the new barswould get me the riding position I need.
I have talked with my local HD dealer about this and they have had several suggestions, one of which is to just lower the stock bars to bring them closer to the rider. I sat on a SG that had this done and it lowers the grips to a point that is too close to my legs and still does not bring them back far enough. They also suggested other bars but they have no way to set them up on a display so that I can get a feel for them. I don't want to spend the money on new bars and braided cables and find that it still isn't what I need.
There many here in the forum that swear by the Wild 1 Chubbys (Model #W0575). At $214 they are a little pricy and they obstruct some of the vision of the mirrors. You can see them here http://www.wild1inc.com/handlebars.html. Most people also agree that the dealer's extended reach handlebars are not comfortable. Another issue is the cost to replace. Dealer's wants 4 hours of labor to install! Check thier hourly rates. So sorry I can't be of much help, but that is a dilemma many of us have. I would love to get a set of handlebars that retains the position of the hands, but sets them back 1-2 inches.

But I'm hoping for an option that will not obstruct the fairing mounted mirrors.
Good luck with that. Kuryakynsellsmirrors that replace your OEM fairing mounted ones that stick out farther and are adjustable. Two bars of choice are Wild One's 575's (pricey as stated above) and Khromewerks 300505's for $63 (I have these and love them)
Thanks for the info Dawg. I'm likin' the price of the Khromeworks 505's. I'll also check into the Kuryakyn mirrors. That combination sounds like it will get me what I am looking for.
I have Harley's touring bars that are 2" longer. They work for me, and I have the fairing mounted mirrors. They give just enough rearward pullback, which is just what I needed. I drilled holes in the dimples and routed the wires internally. I love em!

I am still looking for part numbers for extensions to all the controls.
How do you know what to buy for an 08?
Everyone lists stuff for earlier models.

How high you looking to go? You won't need extensions for the Khromewerks or the Wild One 575's. The controls (horn, lights, etc.) haven't changed from earlier years. You cannot get an extension for the throttle sensor. The clutch cable would be the +3 sidecar model for 08 which would be 38649-08

I like the price of these. Will I have to change any wiring (07 Street Glide) or can i use what's there (stock)?
