I have them on my 08 UC and really like them. At first I thought they might be too loud for the wife, but she can still hear the music in her helmet headset and likes the rumble of the pipes. I too listened to several brands at the harley shop and the Vance and Hines had the best sound (to my ears) both at idle and under power.

I got my info from on the web.. I went to Latus motors (big Harley Store) on the web search and after getting that site go to the "ask Mike" part of their web site. Under ask Mike there are Dyno tests on different set ups. I think I went to their exhaust tests and found a test on the V & H Basic Slip-ons on a 08 Ultra.Their tests showed 9 H.P. and 9 FT LBS of torque gain with the basic slip ons. I even wrote a question in to the "ask Mike" forum and asked which model of slip ons he advised. He wrote back that he had the best results with the basic round slip ons #16725.
I have them sitting in my garage waiting to be installed as soon as I get 1000 miles on the new 08 Ultra. Of course I am doing Big Sucker A/C and PCIII...
Best of Luck

Anyone running V&H Basic slip ons on a 07/08 touring bike with the stock head pipes and stage 1? How's the sound, performance? I want a nice deep sound but still want to hear the radio. Thinking of the basics, Ness BS and Fuel Pak.

Got a set of basics on my 2000 RG with 60,000 + on them. They still sound good andthere is hardly any noticeable discoloration at all.

Yes, I run that exact setup on my 03 FLHTCI. I have the V&H Basic slip ons with the stock headers and the SE air cleaner. I have the stage 1 download. I did notice some increased torque. It does have a nice deep sound. I had already upgraded my speakers to J&M before I got the V&H Basic slip ons, but I have no problem hearing the stereo, I will probably add a fuelpak or PCIII in the future, as I have the slightest hint of decel pop.

Yes. There's a cheese grater type baffle inside, but there are no obstructions or diffusion plates that restrict airflow.

I had the V/H slip on ovals, and liked them. No issues with hearing the stereo, and wife didn't complain.

Now I have the dresser duals, and kept the ovals. Still hear the radio, unless I really jump on it.
