It's hard to believe the stealer left the left side bag unpinned......Yeah, he fersure had to remove them when doing the mods, but then he also had to drive it out for the customer to pick up.
The bike had to be resting on the jiffy stand when he picked it up, and no left side bag will sit without falling off if unpinned when bike is leaned over on jiffy stand.....Well, if the bike has bag guard rails, it might not fall off when on the stand, but the bag would be leaning way out from the bike and pretty hard to miss.
I wouldgo tothe dealership and get the serv mgr, the general mgr and the owner if I had to, but I am getting a new bag from them at no cost to me because obviously it was a screw up on their part speciallly with just 150 miles on the bike and them having the bags off to install the accessories...
big_al, now what makes you think it was OBVIOUSLY the dealers fault ? I don't think we've heard the rest of the story here. You are quick to jump on the bandwagon and blame the dealer but it could have just as well been the owner based on what has benn said here.
Yeah, I doubt it was the dealer too. The bag would have fallen off while resting on the side stand, and most asuredly on the ride home from the dealer. Your friend may not want to admit that he didn't lock the pins in right for fear of severe ego bruising
I replaced my quick release fasteners with a lockable bolt on set that allows quick removal. Bags are solid bolted to mounting brackets and after the lock is removed, able to remove bolts by hand without tools. The best of both worlds. I never trusted the quick releases from either attaching correctly or easily being unclipped by a thief.
I had a friend have one of his fall off. The dealer worked on it and same thing. If the pinwas in and twisted but not locked fully into place, it may take several miles before the pin vibrates around and finally unhooks. He never opened the bag and it fell off, left side too I believe!. He got lucky and the dealer had a set of black bags from a RK with the pinstrip that matched his bike perfectly and swapped them at no cost. The bagsfrom the RK where going to get repainted because the bike was getting a custom paint job anyways. So the dealer said they was going to get sanded and the bag that fell off was just scratched up so no big deal! Got lucky I think, plus he has pistripes that match his tank!
He now puts a zip tie from the strut bracket to the bag bracket just incase it ever happens again. Maybe it will stay long enough tosee that thebag came loose.
