A friend of mine was just behind me yesterday on his 2008 Street Glide as we were making a right hand turn...I heard a noise and looked in the rearview and saw his left side bag sliding across the road. Yeah...he was pissed. He's had this bike for less than a week. Been too cold to ride, so we were out putting onsome breakin miles. He's right at 150 miles now. He called the dealership and they asked him to bring it in. No promises.
I know that he had the detatchable backrest and slip-on's installed at time of purchase. I'm sure they had the bags removed for that, but he still may be on his own on this one. I think those bags are running about $600-$650 to replace. Can someone verify? Crimson Red. Left bag is complete loss...scratches and gouges on every surface including the latch.
I had one fall off a '79 BMW. Fortunately, I was in the right-hand lane on an interstate. The bagbounced and rolled onto theshoulder without hittingby a cage.
I had a bag fall off once a few years back, usual story was in a county bar drinking jack daniels mixed with southern comfort.Got towards the bottom of the bottle and picked up this lady the bartender told me.Didn't get her name but she must of fell off some where between the bar and my house, worst part of it the next morning with a hang over i had to go buy a new helmet to replace the one the bag was wearing when she decided to leave me before saying goodbye.
